Our silk stockings are made of 100% silk, and silk is ALWAYS going to be expensive (especially hosiery, since it is such a delicate piece of "clothing") because of its durability, comfort and feel.
Silk stockings are more opaque than lycra and will not stretch, so checking the size chart before you purchase silk stockings is highly recommended. If you are in between sizes, it is best to choose the next size up.
The weave of these stockings makes them more durable than nylon or lycra, and with good care and cleaning, a pair of silk stockings should last a lifetime (or many moons).
On that note, care for these stockings would be: hand washing carefully in cold water with a very mild hand-washing detergent. You should not use Woolite - invest in a high-quality, mild detergent made specifically for hand-washing delicate materials. Let your stockings drip dry (think back on days of stockings and lingerie hanging in the shower - oh, if only we spent the time to continue this tradition!). Don't wring or roll them dry, as this will cause them to lose their shape.
To store your stockings, we recommend a silky/smooth bag with drawstring (no zippers, hooks, snaps, or velcro - yikes!) in a cool dry place ... perhaps with your Lucite toys!
As for the rest of these new and ultra-lovely stockings, they are all 100% nylon (tres chic) and are 15 denier (a denier is a unit of fineness for nylon, silk, and rayon), which is in the middle range of "thickness" - not super-light, not super-opaque. Nylon will stretch a little but not too much.
All of these are stockings, which means they need a garterbelt to keep them up, unless you love the '20s and want to roll them to just over your knees, knowing they may not stay up (what an eyecatcher: the old "I'm-adjusting-my-stocking-how-ya-like-them-apples?" routine...). Our high-end stocking vendor also sells reproductions of the vintage Hanes stockings, for those of you wanting to channel the glamour of yesteryear, that impresively resemble the classic. The nylon stockings we carry parallel the "Hanes"'s quality and are less expensive.
These stockings are a worthy investment for people who enjoy the finer things in life, and know they are worth the money, as well as for those who want to bring attention to their glamorous gams. The Divine Diva stockings are ideal for men because they allow for larger feet, taller stature, and/or wider thighs.
