Vixskin toys, made by the company Vixen Creations, contain the same high-quality, sturdy, non-porous, and sterilizable silicone you will find in their other silicone toys. The difference between them is the way they feel. Vixskin toys feel more realistic because they contain a firm, yet flexible, inner core surrounded by a softer outer layer that simulates the softness and elasticity of real skin. The outer layer gets its softer texture because there is silicone lubricant suspended between the silicone molecules (this is on the molecular level--there is no liquid or lubricant on the toy or leaching out of the toy).
Other companies have similar products that go by different names (like "Dual Density" from the company Tantus). The Niagara dildo is one such toy.
Like regular silicone dildos, Vixskin and Dual Density dildos are nonporous, meaning that germs cannot penetrate the surface. They can be thoroughly sterilized between uses, making them safe to share with others. With proper care and cleaning, they can last for a very long time.
Vixskin and Dual Density silicone are different from other "realistic feeling" materials like Cyberskin. Cyberskin toys like Ricki are made of silicone and latex; they are soft and life-like, but also porous, non-sterilizable, and somewhat delicate. Vixskin and Dual Density toys do cost more than Cyberskin and "regular" silicone toys, but this is because they are the only materials that provide the benefits of high-quality silicone in a very realistic-feeling toy.
