Women and men not as different as we thought

Women and men not as different as we thought

A recent study by UW-Madison's own Dr. Janet Hyde has shown that -- surprise! -- women and men aren't as essentially different as many believe. Hyde's study reviewed 20 years' worth of gender studies, looking for gender differences in cognitive abilities, verbal and nonverbal communication, social / psychological traits, psychological well-being, motor behaviors and moral reasoning. She found little to no difference between men and women in any of these areas.
Hyde believes the prevalent attitude that "men are from Mars, women are from Venus" has its roots in media misrepresentations and social attitudes, not factual biological differences.
