FDA Warns Against Supplements for Erectile Dysfunction

The FDA warns consumers not to purchase or consume drugs promoted as "dietary supplements" for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. These drugs, including Zimaxx, Libidus, Neophase, Nasutra, Vigor-25, Actra-Rx, and 4EVERON, are not approved or regulated by the FDA and may be dangerous. Some of these drugs contain the same active ingredients as Viagra and Levitra but don't say so on their labelling, instead claiming to be "all-natural." Alarmingly, these ingredients can lower blood pressure to dangerous levels if they interact with prescription drugs containing nitrates (such as those for high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease). Consumers may think the products are safe because of the deceptive labelling; even if consumers are not taking prescription drugs with nitrates, there is no way of knowing whether the active ingredients in these drugs are safe, effective or pure.
