 A new study examined how women respond to "sexual desire cues," that is, what kinds of things make them desire sexual activity. The study compared the responses of pre- and post-menopausal women, and had them fill out a questionnaire assessing their reactions to certain cues (like "feeling a sense of love with a partner," or "watching an erotic movie"). Researchers found that pre- and post-menopausal women were equally responsive to most cues, and that post-menopausal women were even more responsive to certain cues than pre-menopausal women. Most research into the lives of post-menopausal women focuses on the negative aspects of their experiences, so this study is treading new ground. It also corroborates the experience of many post-menopausal women who enjoy hearty sex lives!
