 The August issue of the Gynecologic Oncology journal features the results of a survey given to 219 women between the ages of 40 and 50 who have survived genital/reproductive cancers. Three out of 4 of these women wish their doctors would have provided them with information about the possible ramifications their disease and treatment may have on their sexuality. Sexual problems including pain, scarring, limited lubrication, and infections were reported by the women surveyed. Researchers expressed concern that if sexual health problems were not being addressed by doctors under these circumstances, doctors would be even less likely to discuss sexual health concerns in other situations, particularly with older women.
