Description:
This book is one of the few that address the common questions about sexuality and intimacy that arise for women and their partners. Written by a psychologist/cancer survivor and a health writer, this is a comfortable discussion of the issues that women face after cancer, and ways to address those issues. Funny stories and jokes are interspersed to keep you laughing, and the whole tone of the book is upbeat and positive. There are a lot of good suggestions for renewing intimacy and sexuality when they are interrupted by cancer. We also like that there is a section for partners (although the book is heavily weighted toward heterosexual couples, so you'll have to get through that bias), helping them understand the changes, take care of themselves when necessary, and offering ideas of ways to make their survivor-partner feel loved and sexy. This book is highly recommended for any woman who is a cancer survivor, partnered or single, who wants to make sure that intimacy and sexuality survive and thrive for them after a cancer diagnosis. 236 pp. Authors: Sally Kydd, PsyD, LPsych., and Dana Rowett.
