The stories are pretty diverse, but have one central thing in common: they feature black women as protagonists, and their partners are often, but not always, other black women. Beyond that, the characters range from university professors and union organizers to karate instructors and bartenders. There are out-lesbians as well as inexperienced women who are curious about being with another woman.
These stories don't dive right into the sex scenes, but rather create a plot around the characters to tease the reader and build up to the sex scenes. The characters (and readers!) find their release towards the end of the stories, in scenes that are hot and passionate. Sex takes place in bedrooms, in sleeper cars on trains, in hotel rooms, in sex toy shops, and in semi-public places. The sex scenes include a lot of breast play, oral sex, and sex with fingers and hands. There are a few that feature strap-on play or vibrators, and one that features a bit of power play and spanking (but the volume is otherwise free of BDSM or kink). Most sex is between two women, but you'll find a couple of threesomes/group scenes, too.
This is a good choice for anyone who wants to read entertaining, sexy stories of women falling in love (or lust) and having sex together. It offers an interesting and diverse cast of characters and situations, and turns up the heat without pushing boundaries. It's an especially good choice if you'd like to read stories featuring, and from the perspectives of, black women who love women (but it's sexy reading even if you aren't setting out to find that!).
This is not a good choice if you want stories that push the boundaries of gender and sexuality, or if you're interested in reading about kink or BDSM.
