This movie is a documentary about the making of the book Petals. The artist, Nick Karras, discusses his inspiration for the series of photographs and a variety of other people discuss their reactions to it. Karras explains his intention for female viewers to see the beauty of themselves. He also wants people to be able to see the beauty of vulvas independent of sex. The topic of women's body image is thoroughly discussed, from the beauty of the female body and genitals, to women's frequent discomfort and shame towards their vulvas. We hear from the women who were photographed, the book's publisher, an employee at Hustler, a sacred sexuality teacher, Betty Dodson, and many more. We also see the work on display in a gallery, and get to watch Nick photographing one of the women.

It's not explicit aside from the photos themselves. It's not exactly instructional but it might make the viewer think. I'd recommend it to someone who likes Betty Dodson's movies and is looking for an interesting documentary, rather than something arousing or instructional. 77 min. Produced in 2005.
